Day 29. Negreira – Olveiroa

Got my first blister today! Not sure what I’ve done to have deserved it, but here we are. Should be fine, I’m in the hands of the best field surgeon (myself).

We caught up with Nikita and Olga very soon after leaving Negreira (through some dark mysterious forest roads). The rest of the day we were able to walk with tempo convenient to everyone, as two of us four are a bit quicker walkers than the other two. Also, the conversation helps the time pass, and we were almost surprised to find ourselves in Olveiroa after a number of climbs and descents through more of the lush Galician countryside. It is another of the chilly days here. Not as wet as yesterday, but not exactly dry, either.

We roll into Olveiroa, where the municipal albergue is “unmanned” until later, there’s an invitation to grab the “bed linen” onesie set and just take a bed. Unfortunately there’s also nobody to inform an American lady of where to put her boots outside the dorm, so she tries to stick them into a tiny window directly in front of our faces and then proceeds to spray everything with what I assume is a bed bug spray. Vile stuff, if I were a bed bug, I’d run for my life. But I’m a well-mannered man, so I have to stay and breathe this shit.

By the way, what do you reckon this basin under the window is for. Wash? Or? This building complex looks rather old, so this really could have been anything.

A long stage tomorrow, but I’m looking forward to seeing Fisterra.
