One thing that is very much on my mind these days is this: I look at this pair of Altras and trying to assert if they are good for another Camino. Well, frankly, mr. Shankly, now it is a bit late to contemplate a new pair, anyway. But listen: I look at the wear on them and I think, hm, well – they did survive 2 Caminos over the last two years, they should survive another one, right? But then, if I put both of those two Caminos together, they are still barely a half of what we have signed up for this time. Half! Both of them!
Update: this is the “after” shot. They did survive, but I wouldn’t expect much more of them after this time.

We were describing our travel plans to one of our sons. “So, a flight to Paris right after work, sleepover, then a train to Bayonne, then another train to StJPdP (St. Jean Pied de Port, but you would know, since you’re reading this, no?) and then we walk for about 800km and then we’re in Santiago”. Simon chuckled and said, “Well, that sounds like incredibly bad planning”.
Ha-ha. Well, in honesty, I don’t think I ever planned any vacation (like, planned it – with tickets and some room bookings) half a year in advance. Before they started selling some of the train tickets, actually. We still have some to book – the Spanish are careful about planning their railroad traffic, so Santiago to Madrid is not being sold yet. My worst fear right now, you ask? That something keeps us from going.
I’ll go re-read my packing list from two years ago to calm my nerves, I guess. Definitely will take a professionally-sized bar of soap for laundry this time. Will try to not break a leg for six more weeks.
